During
my university years studying biology, I never
thought images would some day be such a big part of
my life. Well here I am today, earn my living as a
professional photographer. Change from a becoming
scientist to a visual artist was not that easy,
particularly at the beginning, but when I look back
I know that my decision was right. Photography is
my way of life and I love it!
As a photographer I consider myself above all an aesthete and visual poet. Nature has always been my big love and endless source of inspiration. So I'm happy to live in Joensuu, a small town in a beautiful lake district in eastern Finland. Area with lakes, rivers, forests, hills, meadows and four seasons is a perfect place to obtain inspiration and peace of mind. Also the music and movies has a huge influence on my work.
Aside from commissions I’m happy to do and work pretty much what I like. As every passionate photographer or artist knows you never get rid of your work. But hey, why should you, if it’s your passion. I know that I work a lot, but that’s not my whole life. I do find time for my friends and family, books, movies, music, hiking and gym.
My photographic work has been widely published in books, magazines, newspapers, advertisements, posters, calendars, postcards, websites, etc. In 1997 I was enrolled an Associate of The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain. I am also a member of The Finnish Nature Photographer's Association.
I also work as a freelance journalist specializing in nature and science and write articles to magazines and newspapers. My published articles counts over 500.
My clients include Suomen Luonnonsuojeluliitto, Pellervo-seura ry, Maa- ja kotitalousnaisten Keskus ry, Sanoma Magazines, A-lehdet, Otavamedia, Sanoma Osakeyhtiö, Alma Books, Keskisuomalainen, Ajasto, Paletti, Aikataos Kalenterit, CC Kalenteripalvelu Oy, Scandecor, WSOY, Multikustannus Oy, Saimatext Oy and Yläkuu kustannus.
